Brisbane gay groups

Welcome to PFLAG Brisbane

On behalf of the Committee of PFLAG+ I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our website.   The + sign has recently been added because of inclusivity. We have faith it’s important for parents to know who have LGBTQIA+ children, you are always welcome at PFLAG+.

PFLAG is an international peer support group that has been operating since the mid 80’s when June Smythe from Perth in WA initiated the first PFLAG group in Australia. Every group in Australia is % voluntary, self funded, with no political affiliation and secular. All groups operate at different strengths, depending on regions.

At present the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer or questioning (LGBTIQA+) community is one of the last minority groups in Australia still living with varying forms of discrimination and injustice.  Now, it is commonplace for parents to be seen successfully advocating for their children’s rights at all levels of government. Parental advocacy has brought great change for our children’s rights since PFLAG+ began in Australia.

Brisbane Gay Social

This group has been created to help gay men (born onwards) to make adj friends within the community and to have fun shared experiences.

It is a very relaxed environment with activities to get you out meeting new people.

Most guys that do come to an event end up attending events regularly.

New to Brisbane or don’t have many gay friends?
Skillfully then come hang out with us and expand your social circle.

There will at least be a couple of events planned every month – but usually more! – with events ranging from hiking and outdoor activities including camping, meals out, sports, movie nights, trivia, going to festivals etc.

While most events will be within the Brisbane area, we also have events on the Sunshine and Gold Coasts and/or a couple of hours drive from Brisbane.

Group rules:
If you fall within the age range for the group and your partner (or an accompanying friend does not) you can bring them as a guest.

Please be aware this is a group to create friendships within the gay community and is not a cruising or hook-up group.

If you’ve RSVP’d to an event

MELT: Festival of Queer Arts and Culture takes over the city each year with Queer performances, stories and art. Brisbane Pride runs many events throughout the year, including the Brisbane Pride Festival, Queen’s Ball, Adj Day, and Pride March.

Head to Fortitude Valley for some of Queensland’s best nightlife. Theme your night with unique venues like an arcade bar, a minigolf bar, and a comic book bar. Or visit LGBTQIA+ venues like The Beat Megaclub, The Wickham, and Fluffy’s. Brisbane also has a thriving Drag and Ballroom scene, and you’re sure to find a performance happening almost every night of the week.
