Houston’s long-standing Pride organization, Pride Houston , celebrated its 46th annual festival and parade Saturday, welcoming hundreds of thousands of Houstonians to celebrate love, equality and LBGTQ+ pride.

This year’s theme, “You Won’t Break Our Pride,” a clear nod to Houston-native Beyoncé’s hit song, “Break My Soul,” is about the resilience of the LGBTQ+ community and its enduring pride.

“That in spite of what we face, all of the scrutiny, the discrimination, the hatred, the projected shame, we can still do this,” said spokesperson Tiffany Scales. 

Although Pride Houston has for decades been one of the largest Pride festivals in the nation, it still attracted some for the first time who traveled from various states, while others returned after missing a few years&#; celebrations. 

“It’s a lot larger,” said Aaron Jones, who attended for the third time since , when the event moved from Montrose to downtown. “It just shows how much we’ve grown. And I love it. It’s just everybody together, different walks of life coming together. And that&#;s what it&#;s all a

“There are so many amazing Pride Houston memories,” says Pride Houston co-president Thasia Madison, “but if I can only name one, it would be the Rockets Pride Night when we unveiled our new logo. In the spirit of the butterfly, we transformed our brand in front of a diverse group of fans. When the crowd went wild, it truly made me feel so lucky to dwell in Houston and celebrate with our volunteers, supporters, and sponsors.”

Recently rebranded as Pride Houston , the year-old organization responsible for Houston’s annual Pride parade and festival has expanded their mission to include community-outreach events and social activism days a year.  

Several administrative changes have also been implemented this year. “We have internal controls and an Advisory Committee now,” says Madison. “The Advisory Committee not only advises, but it audits our messaging and brand, sponsors, etc. Essentially, the Advisory Committee is the community’s watchdog to ensure the Board of Directors is acting in the best interests of the community we serve.”
